What does "All Veggie Diet" mean?

Our chickens only eat 100% vegetarian feed. They eat feed made with whole grains and corn, with no animal by-products, fats or proteins. In fact, on our packaging, you'll find a unique USDA seal verifying that our chickens are vegetarian fed. Look for the USDA verification seal on every package.

Do Harvestland chickens receive any antibiotics, hormones or steroids?
A:
No hormones or steroids are added*, and no antibiotics ever.
Q:
What does "no antibiotics ever" mean?
A:
According to USDA labeling guidelines, "No antibiotic ever" means a chicken has never been administered antibiotics during its life cycle. Our chickens do not receive antibiotics in the egg, water or feed.

Our commitment to delivering the best all-natural* foods to your family's table is born from the belief that all families deserve to eat well. All of our chickens are raised by family farmers who take special care raising and feeding their chickens so you can have healthy, affordable chicken to feed your family. Our family farmers understand that sustainability and healthy eating go hand in hand. Some of our family farmers are 7th generation farmers, and you don't get much more sustainable than that. Look for the name of our family farmers on our whole fresh chickens.

What is your company's animal welfare policy?

We share a belief that it is our responsibility to treat the animals in our care with respect. Our poultry welfare program combines principles from the National Chicken Council and our own "Best Practices" to create scientifically sound standards for the humane treatment of poultry. All of our family farmers, and all associates who handle live poultry, receive poultry welfare training.

While HARVESTLAND® products are not USDA certified organic, our products offer most of the same benefits for a lower cost than organic products. No hormones or steroids are added*, and no antibiotics ever. And, our birds receive 100% vegetarian feed. In fact, on our packaging, you'll find a unique USDA process seal verifying that our chickens are vegetarian fed.

What does "natural" mean?
A:
According to USDA labeling guidelines, "natural" is a product that contains no artificial ingredient or added color, and is only minimally processed (a process which does not fundamentally alter the raw product). The label must explain the use of the term natural (such as – no added colorings or artificial ingredients; minimally processed).
